Dennis practices healthcare law and has spent the majority of his legal career representing and defending healthcare facilities, physicians, physician extenders and nurses in professional liability matters, including birth injury, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury cases. He has also represented healthcare providers in regulatory matters including Medical Board and Board of Nursing investigations.
Dennis is originally from Shelby, North Carolina. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Appalachian State University and obtained a B.S. in Risk Management and Insurance with departmental honors. He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Campbell University School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude. While in law school, he focused his legal education on trial advocacy, and he was also a contributing member of the Campbell Law Observer.
He is licensed to practice in North Carolina and has handled matters at all levels of the North Carolina court system-from District Court all the way to the Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Dennis is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina Association of Hospital Risk Managers and the North Carolina Bar Association.
Uniquely, Dennis previously worked within the claims department of a national liability insurance carrier. As such, he has additional perspective and understanding about how liability claims are handled and viewed at the carrier level.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, who is a local physician, and their daughter. Dennis also enjoys following Appalachian State sports and cheering on the Mountaineers.
